J. Hillis Miller

Stanford University Press recently called J. Hillis Miller "the single most significant North American literary critic of the twentieth century." Professor Miller has taught at Johns Hopkins University, Yale University and the University of California at Irvine, and is a past president of the Modern Language Association and a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. His work covers a wide range of literary texts, with a focus on Victorian and early twentieth-century English and American fiction and poetry. [ more ]

Derek Attridge

Derek Attridge is Professor of English at the University of York, and a Distinguished Visiting Professor at Rutgers University in the United States. His interests centre on the language of literature, but radiate in many different directions. He has published a number of articles and books on aspects of literary theory, many of them reflecting his long association with the philosopher Jacques Derrida, a selection of whose work he has edited.
