Lisa Buxton and Leesa Watego
Reconstructing Indigenous Womenhood Realities in Conflict.
The process of healing and reconstructing Identity can be a long and arduous one, fraught with pain and possibility. The building of relationships, valuing and sharing knowledge, responsibilities to and respect for country and self are all part of reconstructing Identity. This can only happen when and where the right conditions exist through the creation of culturally safe spaces/places.
Drawing on personal experience this presentations will explore these concepts in the terms of 2003. By identifying what reconstructing Indigenous womenhood involves, what we have gained and the challenges we continue to face.
