Writing Aboriginal women's history is for all Aboriginal women a labour of love
as we write about our Grandmothers, Mothers, Aunts, Sisters and Cousins. The work
and the trails blazed by them are extremely important to record forever within
the history of our own countries and to share a history that is about all of us.
To enhance understanding and reconciliation we must learn the histories of the
nation's first peoples before we can move on together. Aboriginal women have always
been the backbone of our societies and the legacies left to generations after
are not usually recognised until they pass on. By exhaulting their presence while
they are still living is a treasure to remind that the journey travelled so far
has still a long way to go.
