Undergraduate studies in Writing
There's a knack to producing writing worth reading, and that's what this area will help students achieve. Students will develop a fundamental and substantial understanding of how language works—at the word, sentence, paragraph, and document level. They will learn strategies for designing, structuring, writing, and revising—on paper and online. Whether the aim is to be a creative or a corporate writer, these studies will train students to produce compelling, career-enhancing writing in a variety of fiction and non-fiction genres. Staff in the School's creative writing program are professional teachers and authors, with an impressive record of publications and awards, such as Venero Armanno's novel The Volcano, which won the prestigious 2002 Queensland Premier's Literary Award for Best Fiction.
Whether it is fiction, poetry, or screenwriting, undergraduate students can study the techniques of poetic expression in order to produce both critical and creative writings and to extend knowledge of literature and writing practice. Click here for details.
