Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma & Master of Communication (Science Communication)

The effective diffusion of expert scientific knowledge is critical in the increasingly commercialised and knowledge-intensive current environment. Australia needs graduates who can make a crucial contribution to its social and economic growth through their enhanced skills in disseminating scientific research and innovation.  The Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma & Master's programs in Science Communication aim to provide academic and professional development in the theory and practice of science communication for science graduates who wish to communicate effectively with other professionals in their research community; with professionals in business, industry, government, and the media; and with a broader lay audience.  The programs promote skills in:

  • Writing and editing (in print and online - individually and collaboratively);
  • Information design, publication management, and exhibition design;
  • Spoken and interpersonal communication;
  • Knowledge, event, and project management;
  • Entrepreneurship;
  • Risk and crisis management; and
  • Media liaison, networking, and lobbying.
